Travel insurance indemnity – comfortable travelling and return home!

With a travel insurance policy of Baltijas Apdrošināšanas Nams in your pocket, you may be safe to receive required medical care and support, if an accident has occurred, injury is suffered or a sudden disease is stated. Besides, our policy is like cash when paying for medical care – we pay, you do not need to spend your money.
If an accident has occurred during your travel, a sudden disease is stated, an injury is suffered or other expenses should be reimbursed, which are covered by the insurance policy you have purchased:
  • call the help service specified in your policy to get the required medical care without spending your money and time;
  • pay your own money for medical care and submit to us the required documents within 30 days after your return to receive the indemnity for your expenses;
  • in other cases to receive the insurance indemnity losses should be claimed and certifying documents should be submitted also within 30 days after your return.
Sudden disease or accident:
If a sudden disease is stated or an accident has occurred during your travel, we recommend to contact:
  • CORIS international assistance association by calling +371 67334065, +371 29993812 or its representation offices in the respective country (the information is included in the booklet attached to the policy);
  • CORIS provides operative assistance and support to our customers in Russian and English 24 hrs a day;
  • When you are in Egypt, contact EGYCROSS Assistance help services by phone +20 101 754 721;
  • EGYCROSS Assistance will provide operative assistance in case of injuries and diseases in Russian or English;
Delayed luggage:
The luggage delay is a situation when the arrival of your luggage is delayed for more than 4 hours. To receive the indemnity:
  • You need the statement of the carrier about luggage delay, as well as you should specify the date and time of reception of luggage;
  • If your luggage is delayed, goods of prime necessity may be purchased, if required. Then the indemnity is paid in the amount of 70%, from which the deductible is deducted. To receive the insurance indemnity, you shall save and present originals of documents certifying payments made to purchase additional goods.
Important! You should take into account that no indemnity is paid, when your luggage is delayed on return to Estonia.
Lost or damaged luggage:
  • If your luggage has been damaged or lost, you need a carrier’s statement about luggage damages or a confirmation of its loss;
  • if luggage has been lost while under the carrier's control, the insurance indemnity is paid only after the carrier has reimbursed its part of losses. the insurer pays the difference between the value of the luggage and the compensation paid by the carrier in the amount of the luggage insured amount.
Travel cancellation:
Travel cancellation expenses are indemnified, if:
  • there is an appropriate doctor’s order;
  • a serious accident has occurred;
  • a sudden severe decease or death of the insured, his/her relative or dependent has been stated.
Expenses which cannot be recovered from the travel organizer are indemnified. To receive this indemnity, originals of documents certifying payments made, which cannot be withdrawn or otherwise reimbursed, as well as documents justifying the cause of travel cancellation (original doctor’s statement or original death certificate) should be presented;
Travel interruption :
Justified expenses related to the travel interruption are indemnified, if:
  • an accident has occurred, a sudden severe illness or death of the insured, his/her relative or dependent has been stated;
  • the property of the insured has suffered an accident in his/her country of origin;
  • the carrier delays the start time of the travel or delivery of the insured to the destination specified in the contract with the insurer due to bad weather, technical reasons or traffic accident.
Depending on the cause of the travel interruption, you should submit the following documents together with your claim:
  • doctor’s statement or original of the death certificate;
  • document certifying the fact of property accident (report from a house management company; police statement, etc.);
  • carrier’s statement about causes of interruption;
  • documents certifying unexpected transport and maintenance expenses upon approval of the insurer.
Civil liability:
If an accident occurs during the travel and you unintentionally incur damages or losses are incurred to health, life or property of a third person you shall inform us immediately, as soon as it becomes possible.
We kindly request you to notify about your accident within 30 days after your return, if:
  • you have not contacted our cooperation partners immediately after the accident abroad;
  • it is necessary to reimburse losses in other situations (disability, luggage delay, loss or damage, travel interruption or cancellation, civil liability):
Choose the best play to notify about your accident:
  • complete the travel insurance indemnity claim form and send it by e-mail to atlidzibas@ban.lv or by fax to 67080447.
To receive the insurance indemnity you need to submit:
  • indemnity claim;
  • copy of a personal identification document;
  • originals of documents certifying made payment made.
  • originals of documents justifying the indemnity – statements from health care institutions, statements of airlines about luggage loss, damage or delay, documents issued by law enforcement institutions, etc.
We remind you that depending on a selected insurance program losses covered by the travel insurance policy of Baltijas Apdrošināšanas Nams are:
To owners of the Basic policy:
  • treatment and repatriation expenses;
  • on emergency medical care, incl. medical transport services;
  • on arrival of a significant other to the ill person upon approval of the insurer;
  • repatriation expenses upon approval of the insurer;
  • in case of death – costs of burial abroad or transportation of remains upon approval of the insurer;
To owners of the Standard policy:
  • treatment and repatriation expenses;
  • compensation, if permanent disability or death occurs after the accident;
To owners of the Silver policy:
  • treatment and repatriation expenses;
  • compensation, if permanent disability or death occurs after the accident;
  • losses incurred by luggage delay, damage or loss during its transportation;
  • travel interruption expenses;
  • travel cancellation expenses;
  • unintentional damages incurred to health, life or property of third persons;
To owners of the Golden policy:
  • treatment and repatriation expenses;
  • compensation, if permanent disability or death occurs after the accident;
  • losses incurred by luggage delay, damage or loss during its transportation;
  • travel interruption expenses;
  • travel cancellation expenses;
  • unintentional damages incurred to health, life or property of third persons;
  • Legal (judicial) expenses, if legal aid is required during your travel.
If you have paid yourself for received medical care, as well as in other situations (disability, civil liability, luggage delay, damage, loss, travel interruption or cancellation,), after you notify about the accident:
  • the decision on payment of the indemnity is taken within one month upon receipt of all required documents;
  • if other documents are required, we will contact you;
  • as soon as we make the decision, our professionals from our call center will contact you, as well as you will receive written information by mail.
